Top Tips for Removing Wasps

Over 30,000 species of wasps exist. These pests are known for their aggressive behavior and intense stings. If you have wasps on your property and wish to get rid of them, check out this guide that goes over the top tips for removing wasps.

Do It at Night

Wasps are more docile at night, especially during low temperatures. Creep up on the nest very slowly and quietly. Do not light a fire and use minimal lighting. You do not want to alert them. Once you approach them, quickly and quietly use your preferred method to rid your property of these aggressive guests.

Use a Bin Liner

You can remove wasps from your property by bagging the wasp hive in a bin liner. Slowly cover the nest with the plastic bag and quickly tie it up. While carrying the bag, you will awaken the wasps. Keep the bag as far from your body as possible. They can still sting you through a bag. Once you have it bagged, dispose of it in an outdoor trash bin.

Try a Fake Nest

To keep these pests from forming a home, you can put out a fake nest. Hang the decoy nest up far away from your home to attract these insects. Then, take the additional steps needed to dispose of it. If you are trying to deter a larger nest, place multiple fake nests throughout the outskirts of your property.

Wear Protective Clothing

If you do decide to remove a wasp nest on your own, ensure you are protecting your body with the right kind of clothes. Cover almost every inch of your body that comes in possible contact with a wasp. Wear long sleeves, long pants, gloves and a face covering. The thicker the fabric is, the fewer chances you have of a stinger penetrating your skin.
